The original, opening lyric was written as 'What is this darkness I've become', but it was decided to open up the recorded version with a 'hat tip' to the iconic line 'Hello darkness my old friend'. This amazing lyric, recorded by Simon and Garfunkel over 50 years ago; was a relative line then....and even more relative Today.
